Proud as a peacock.

I absolutely love the colours of peacock feathers and while on holidays I had a chance to take some photos of some. I’m going to build up a digikit and to start I made this congratulations card for the things with wings and bird challenges (see end of post).
I inked the edges of the card with distress ink. I made the backing paper using a close up photograph of the peacock back feathers- they have a beautiful scallop shape. Hopefully there is enough glitz and glamour for the paper shelter challenge.
I adapted a swirl cutting file from Linda (many thanks!) to fit a square card and then added an oval in the middle of the page (I always love a good old flourish and swirl challenge!). As ever my Cougar has cut it my textured card brilliantly- I’m loving to have enough time to play properly.

In the middle I cut an oval on a slightly different shade of card and out it on with foam pads. I altered my peacock photograph to give it an artistic brush effect and I printed and then cut it on the Cougar. I layered it up further by making two more peacock feather papers to use with my sentiment.

A close up to show the cut an texture of the card.

I made the inside paper using Craft artist- I kept it to one layer so it is a flatter card but used the elements from the front to keep it consistent.

Hi Jellie, beautiful photo of a beautiful bird and presented so well. The swirl background is very clever and fits in with the theme.

Thanks for sharing and taking part in the Craftymessers Bird challange.

Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog. The things you’ve made are lovely. Great to meet another cougar owner. I’m on the forum too so will try to find you to say hi on there too. I’ve got some spare grid left over from making my promarker storage which I’d be happy to sell to you if you’re interested.

Keep enjoying your cougar – it;s a wonderful bit of kit isn’t it 😀

That’s gorgeous, Jellie. I adore peacocks. Most people concentrate on the tail and forget the beautiful feathers on their backs and necks – such lovely patterns! A great use of the Cougar too.

Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog – glad you are able to use my stencils, and that you like my latest card using the Dylusions inks. Lots for the Cougar to do as well!

I haven’t yet got the detail blade attachment. Do you find it lifts things less? I always brayer things down really well, but I find small pieces, especially circles, lift badly.

Thanks for your comment Jellie – the detail blade is next on my shopping list! Can you cut thick stuff with it, though? I use the 60+ blade to cut acetate with, and find the small circles lift terribly…

Thanks for the info about the detail blade, Jellie – I haven’t had time to go on the forum today and I’m trying to catch up with all my WOYWW comments on my blog, and I’ve been very busy clearing in my ARTHaven today. So I’m really behind!
