My 100 day challenge- Pattern A Day 2

My 100 day challenge- Pattern A Day 2

The second day of my 100 day challenge today over at the 100daysproject. There are lots of interesting projects over there. Find out more about my individual challenge on my day 1 post here.

Today I drew some patterns that I will be using in my colouring calendar I sell. I start by drawing the outlines- leaves today. Then I study the subject- in this case it was easy as I have lots of different types of leaf in my garden.

Pattern a day leaves

I design patterns based on the patterns I can see in the subject.

I used my Sakura Micron pensfor the drawing (there are various nib sizes allowing a range of fine lines and they are archival quality).

It takes me a couple of hours to complete three leaves due to the detail. The artwork for the calendar is completely hand drawn so each month takes a few days. For the sake of this challenge I’ve taken a photo of the leaves I completed today and then manipulated them digitally using CraftArtist 2 Professional to produce a complete project. I also added my usual copyright information etc.

Please cheer me on with my challenge and follow me on instagram if you are over there (any pointers are welcome as I have no idea what I am doing on Instagram at the moment!!).

I’d like to enter the following challenges which are all anything goes (and I think O.K. with a drawing project). Do go and check out the amazing blogs…

Using Santoro Mirabelle papers for some bunny love!

Using Santoro Mirabelle papers for some bunny love!

I absolutely love all the Santoro papers- I think it is because they are good quality, have great patterns and subtle sparkle. The front covers are also works of art by themselves…simply stunning.

They are the kind of papers that tend to sit unused because you can’t bear to cut them up and then worse give them away! My SANTORO Mirabelle Pad had the perfect papers for our challenge theme of stars and stripes this month with the unusual star background paper so I decided to use them for a very special anniversary card for my brother and sister-in-law.

Santoro Mirabelle for Bunny anniversary

I keep forgetting to mention that I tend to work on scalloped 8×8″ square card blanks. The papers are all from the Mirabelle pad and I matted onto pink card and then used Tattered Rose distress stickles glitter glue around the edges. I made the topper using CraftArtist 2 Professional using an image from the digikit WH Stamps 1. I added pearl gems.

Pearls in my hair by A Day For Daisies- pretty in pink.

Pearls in my hair by A Day For Daisies- pretty in pink.

Our Creative Loops Challenge here this month is stars and/or stripes. This is my first card for the challenge using the beautiful digi called Pearls In My Hair from Day For Daisies. It is a birthday card for my lovely sister in law.

BirdsinherhairSally1

The stripe and floral papers were from the Victorian Roses by Make & Create. All the layers were matted onto pink card and the card was distressed using my Tim Holtz distress tool. I used a lovely translucent shimmery ribbon. All of these were from my extensive stash :-). I added three star gems and also some flowers from wild orchid crafts to embellish the card.

I used Craft Artist to create the top layer with the digi stamp and coloured the image using Promarkers.

Sun, sand, sea and Wee Goldie the mermaid!

There are lots of inspiring summer challenges at the moment so I decided to use my Goldie digi stamp by Sylvia Zet at Wee stamps for a summer themed card. Unfortunately this shop seems to be down at the moment but an alternative is to get the rubber stamp or buy the topper at Hobby House. I created a background for the image using Craft Artist 2 with sea in the circle and sand outside it in the square.

GoldieWeeStampMermaidCard

I coloured the image using Promarkers. I pushed myself to try some different colours and I like how it turned out.

Hair: Honeycomb, ginger, spice and terracotta

Skin: Ivory, blush, dusky pink, tea rose

Tail: Amber, pumpkin, orange, burnt orange

Flowers: Artic blue, sky blue

Hearts: Antique pink, ruby

Snail: Blush, dusky pink, putty, tan

Bubbles: Aquamarine, soft aqua, turquoise

I added some highlights to the hair using Letraset metallic red gold and to the bubbles with Letraset metallic green and Sakura Stardust green star. Finally I covered each bubble using Sakura Stardust clear star.

GoldieWeeStampsMermaidCard2

I created the background paper and sentiment using Craft Artist 2. I used digital starfish embellishments to match my theme. I edged the papers using Promarkers and matted them onto plain yellow card. The sentiment looks like a sign on weathered wood with chalk writing. I curled the sentiment to make it ‘pop’ and added pearl embellishments.

Diamonds and pearls- Hepbern dress

Hi!

This card is full out girly- diamonds, pearls and lace!  I used the beautiful image Hepbern dress by A Day for Daisies.

Hepburn dress Day for Daisies

I coloured the image with Promarkers, Collectors ProMarkers and flexmarkers (Hair: canary, sunflower, yellow, vanilla. Skin: Almond, putty, dusty pink, tea rose. Dress: Duck egg, oasis, honeydew, aquamarine). I painted some highlights onto the dress using pearlescent waterfall green acrylic ink.

I used Craft Artist 2 to make the image background and background paper. I made them both by sampling the colours from the Our Daily Bread Colour challenge.

I used my Cougar electronic cutter to etch a frame design on lilac pearlescent card. I used Spun Sugar Distress Sticklesto outline the frame design and around the outside of the card.

Hepburn dress a day for daisiesI created the digital backgound paper featureing a lace ribbon, strings of pearls, glitter and diamond and pearl embellishments. I colour matched these for the ODB challenge. I created a mathing paper for the inside.

16th birthday memory frame

16th birthday memory frame

Hi!
I can’t believe the backlog of projects I’ve got to blog. You may have noticed I’ve been busy moving and redesigning my blog. I should be back to regular posting soon.
TodayI’m sharing a comissioned project for a 16th birthday gift. I was asked to make a one of a kind memory frame with blue in the colour scheme and for several reasons I decided an astronomical theme was appropriate.
I took the photos in a bit of a rush and they aren’t brilliant as it is difficult to photograph due to the glass.
16th memory frame 1

I decided to use some cork in the layers.

16th memory frame 2

I thought for a teenage boy it would be fun to use some wood stars with red beer bottle tops to add some colour.

16th memory frame 3

I thought I could get away with a bit of bling to give a starry effect.

16th memory frame 4

I cropped and resized the photos digitally and placed them to show the progression through the years.

16th memory frame 5

The current photo was taken by his brother and I digitally merged it with some paper and overlaid the lyrics from my wish for you.

16th memory frame 6

I made up the stars using layers of paper and a touch of bling to draw attention.

16th memory frame 7

I couldn’t resist using the little kraft photo corners.

16th memory frame 8

This is my first memory frame for a teenage boy so fingers crossed that he likes it and that he has a great birthday!

A pirate gains a brother!

A pirate gains a brother!

Two makes for you tonight. A matching card and treat box to celebrate becoming a big brother! I designed everything based around a couple of photos where the recipient is dressed as a pirate using Craft Artist. I added a pirates hat to the baby and an eye patch to the recipient (as usual faces blurred for privacy)

On of the amazing things with Craft Artist is the way you can create the shadows- it really helps make it look like the boys are in my scene! It also adds dimension but with only 1 layer which helps if you are looking out for postage costs! The edges of the card are inked with distress ink.

I then altered a wooden box to make a pirate treasure chest for some treats. I painted the box with blue pearlescent ink. All the papers were designed on Craft Artist and were decoupaged on using Mod Podge. This is the top of the box.

I added some plastic gold coin trim around the outside.

Inside the top lid.

In the base…

Then full of treausre!!

Cute as a button picture

Cute as a button picture

This is the picture I made to accompany the card for a new arrival! Once again I blurred the picture for privacy. I used a box frame from Hobbycraft.
I used some of the elements I had designed for the card. They are colour matched to the blanket on the baby. I used some bright DP from my First Edition Hideaway stash and used sage distress ink on the card edges. I wanted to use dots on the paper and pearls to match the button theme.

I used ribbons from stash and coloured them to match using soft green Promarker. The buttons were from stash.

I coloured all the pearls with Promarker to match and pull my elements together.

Pink, pink, pink and orange!

Pink, pink, pink and orange!

Hi!
As you can see I’m getting back into my blogging every day! Another birthday card for Think Pink using Sweet Sketch (a really fun sketch to work with) hopefully I can raise some cash for cancer research with them. I’m finding the murky lighting difficult for photos at the minute- might have to build a mini studio when I have time!

I used the photo of the Stampin’ royalty colours to colour match my digital papers I made on Craft Artist. I used a pink frame with circles. as the basis of my patterns. I then used a pink Sakura glaze pen and orange Sakura souffle pen to add some detailing and to make it pop. I tore some pink fibrous paper and stamped orange circles on it using a wine cork.

I made circle embellishments by printing from Craft Artist and then adding pearls I had coloured orange. I mounted them and my image using foam pads. I then attached my sentiment using pearl brads I had coloured orange and fixed it with a curve on it to add dimension.

I also used a pink sakura glaze pen to highlight the middle of the sentiment.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and flexmarkers.

I designed a matching inside but put all the elements on 1 layer to print.

A good few hours of fun! I would like to enter the following challenges

Cute as a button!

Cute as a button!

Hi everyone!
I’m trying to catch up on some blogging. I’ve been crafting lots but it’s been to make displays at work and I haven’t really been able to blog about them.
A new arrival in the family warrants a cute card. I made it in a rush so decided to use Craft Artist and keep it to one layer physically. As usual I have blurred the photo and message inside to protect privacy- it doesn’t look blurry in real life!!

The benefit of using Craft Artist is also that I could colour match the papers and embellishments to the blanket in the crib. This allowed a monochrome look which I think adds to the cute factor. I used sage distress ink on the edges of the card.

I decided to go for buttons, bows, ribbons and teddies for embellishments and  I made the paper using polka dots to match the blanket in the crib as well as using some patchwork material DP.

So there it is- cute as a button just like the baby!!
