40th birthday altered book art

I altered this book as a birthday gift. The recipient is a big fan of The Lord of the Rings and I managed to find a damaged book with a map on the inside reminiscent of that great saga.  I folded the pages to create the ’40’ and stained the edges with distress ink to help the numberd stand out. I used a ribbon to hold the book in place for display.

I created the scene for the back cover using Craft Artist and kept it within the fantasy theme. I’ve covered the sentiment for privacy reasons.
