Pearls in my hair by A Day For Daisies- pretty in pink.

Our Creative Loops Challenge here this month is stars and/or stripes. This is my first card for the challenge using the beautiful digi called Pearls In My Hair from Day For Daisies. It is a birthday card for my lovely sister in law.

BirdsinherhairSally1

The stripe and floral papers were from the Victorian Roses by Make & Create. All the layers were matted onto pink card and the card was distressed using my Tim Holtz distress tool. I used a lovely translucent shimmery ribbon. All of these were from my extensive stash :-). I added three star gems and also some flowers from wild orchid crafts to embellish the card.

I used Craft Artist to create the top layer with the digi stamp and coloured the image using Promarkers.

Minecraft card- new layout and new style

Minecraft card- new layout and new style

Creative loops challenge newThe theme for the Creative Loops challenge this month is New. In this card I have tried a new card fold and style. It is a bit out of my comfort zone and I always struggle a bit more with male birthday cards. I CASED (Copy And Share Everything) this card from Pinterest, originally pinned from SouthShoreStamping.

I made the card using Kraft card and also used it to mat the Creeper.

I created the backing paper and creeper by scoring/ embossing lines every mm across the green and black card both vertically and horizontally. I used Promarkers to colour the green squares on the creeper and cut the eyes and mouth from the black card. I mounted the eyes and mouth on foam pads.

I made a matching backing paper for the inside using Craft Artist 2. I used the Minecraft font- love it!

Sun, sand, sea and Wee Goldie the mermaid!

There are lots of inspiring summer challenges at the moment so I decided to use my Goldie digi stamp by Sylvia Zet at Wee stamps for a summer themed card. Unfortunately this shop seems to be down at the moment but an alternative is to get the rubber stamp or buy the topper at Hobby House. I created a background for the image using Craft Artist 2 with sea in the circle and sand outside it in the square.

GoldieWeeStampMermaidCard

I coloured the image using Promarkers. I pushed myself to try some different colours and I like how it turned out.

Hair: Honeycomb, ginger, spice and terracotta

Skin: Ivory, blush, dusky pink, tea rose

Tail: Amber, pumpkin, orange, burnt orange

Flowers: Artic blue, sky blue

Hearts: Antique pink, ruby

Snail: Blush, dusky pink, putty, tan

Bubbles: Aquamarine, soft aqua, turquoise

I added some highlights to the hair using Letraset metallic red gold and to the bubbles with Letraset metallic green and Sakura Stardust green star. Finally I covered each bubble using Sakura Stardust clear star.

GoldieWeeStampsMermaidCard2

I created the background paper and sentiment using Craft Artist 2. I used digital starfish embellishments to match my theme. I edged the papers using Promarkers and matted them onto plain yellow card. The sentiment looks like a sign on weathered wood with chalk writing. I curled the sentiment to make it ‘pop’ and added pearl embellishments.

Diamonds and pearls- Hepbern dress

Hi!

This card is full out girly- diamonds, pearls and lace!  I used the beautiful image Hepbern dress by A Day for Daisies.

Hepburn dress Day for Daisies

I coloured the image with Promarkers, Collectors ProMarkers and flexmarkers (Hair: canary, sunflower, yellow, vanilla. Skin: Almond, putty, dusty pink, tea rose. Dress: Duck egg, oasis, honeydew, aquamarine). I painted some highlights onto the dress using pearlescent waterfall green acrylic ink.

I used Craft Artist 2 to make the image background and background paper. I made them both by sampling the colours from the Our Daily Bread Colour challenge.

I used my Cougar electronic cutter to etch a frame design on lilac pearlescent card. I used Spun Sugar Distress Sticklesto outline the frame design and around the outside of the card.

Hepburn dress a day for daisiesI created the digital backgound paper featureing a lace ribbon, strings of pearls, glitter and diamond and pearl embellishments. I colour matched these for the ODB challenge. I created a mathing paper for the inside.

Diamond fold Christmas card

This is the design I used for all my Christmas cards last year but unfortunately I forgot to take photos so I could blog them! I thought I’d make another one while I still remembered how I did them!

I made the card base using 12 by 12 inch pearlescent card. I cut this at 4 and 8 inches so I could make three cards. I used this tutorial at splitcoaststampers on making diamond fold cards and scored it using my Big Score Scoring Board. This is the folded, front  and rear views.

I used an old image, papers, card and a stamp which were all from magazines and unfortunately I have no idea which magazines or the designers. I also used old ribbon and punches. I added new adhesive pearls and coloured them with a metallic red Promarker.

diamond fold christmas2I used corner punches on my layers under the image. I used a holly punch and added more adhesive pearls coloured with a metallic red Promarker as berries.

diamond fold christmas6I stamped and embossed the sentiment image onto card which I cut with a scallop edge circle punch.

I made a box envelope with card from this lushFirst Edition Scrapbook Paper Pad- Love Letters.

40th birthday card

This card was comissioned for a 40th birthday. The recipient likes Cath Kidson so I went for floral, shabby chic in spring cottage garden colours!

A one of a kind card made for a 40th birthday.

I used a beautiful digital stamp called flower maiden 2 by A Day For Daisies . I coloured her with Promarkers and FlexMarkers and I diligently kept a list of colours I used and put it somewhere safe! (if it ever surfaces I’ll post them!!)

I used Papermania Eau De Nil Jumbo Crochet Trim to make the ribbon and topped it with a gemstone cluster.

The papers are from the beautiful Santoro Mirabelle Paper Pad and are layered onto pastel pink card which was then stickled.

I added a trio of gems to top right and bottom left of the image.

Iona2

I decorated the inside of the card to match.

An odd discovery!

An odd discovery!

Hi!
The other day as I walked up the garden I spied lots of wood shavings of the lawn. This was very odd and confusing! I looked up into the tree and realised that quite high up their was a perfect circular hole- it looked like it had been done with a tool. The only possible explanation was a woodpecker but it was hard to believe. I sat down with some binoculars and sure enough a woodpecker was happily drilling out a hole in the tree. Hubby set up his camera inside the house and managed to get some photos. I couldn’t resist using one to make a  card for my dad’s birthday.

I designed my papers in Craft Artist using the Autumn colour pallette from the Craft Room challenge blog

and the layout from Sketch Saturday Challenge

Here is the finished card with matching inside

The edges of the card were inked with peeled paint distress ink and the papers edged with marsh green promarker. The gems and button were from stash.
I would also like to enter the Things With Wings challenge at Sparkles monthly challenge.

A bright pattern watercolour card

A bright pattern watercolour card

Hi!
Another attempt at a watercolour card today. I felt like trying something a bit different so I decided to use a Faber-Castell Pitt permanent Pen to build up a pattern based on circles and flowers. I then used my ZIG waterolours to paint it.

I wanted to make all the papers so I echoed my main design and used my Sakura Stardust Gelpen to make them. I coloured the edge of my scalloped card with an Aubergine ProMarker.

I cut a purple and yellow ribbon for the central band. I didn’t have any buttons in my stash that were a good match for the card and since I wanted it to be as handmade as I could I decided to make the buttons. I had previously made a mould of an old button using Siligum. I used Martha Stewart paper clay (red, yellow and white to get orange)  and pressed it into the mould. When it was dry I rubbed some Gold Gilding Wax over the top to bring out the details.

This is a very different style of card for me and I’m not really sure about it!

Holly birthday!

Holly birthday!

I wanted to make a Winter birthday card for a change. I used a sketch from Sketch Saturday and the Sylvia Zett digi Holly. This picture gives you an idea of the sparkle and shine when it catches the light!

The papers are from Nitwits  and I used a red glaze pen and Lime star pen to give them some extra zing by colouring the berries and leaves around the outside. I used Peeled paint distress ink around the edges of the card.

I designed the sentiment on Craft Artist and then highlighted the words with lime star pen. I used a ribbon from stash and coloured gems with flexmarker. I’ve taken a close up without flash. I coloured with Promarkers and flexmarkers. I also used my Sakuras over the top of the Promarkers but the effects of these show up better in the other photos with flash! I used a red glitter pen for the hair band, blue stardust for the wings, red glaze for the berries, white souffle and silver star for the snow and metallic red for the bells.

I made a single layer inside using maching elements.

Cute as a button picture

Cute as a button picture

This is the picture I made to accompany the card for a new arrival! Once again I blurred the picture for privacy. I used a box frame from Hobbycraft.
I used some of the elements I had designed for the card. They are colour matched to the blanket on the baby. I used some bright DP from my First Edition Hideaway stash and used sage distress ink on the card edges. I wanted to use dots on the paper and pearls to match the button theme.

I used ribbons from stash and coloured them to match using soft green Promarker. The buttons were from stash.

I coloured all the pearls with Promarker to match and pull my elements together.
